Pittsford and Fairport have faced three times in the Sectional Championship over the last seven tournaments.  In each of the last seven years at least one of them has been present in the finals.  When they faced last year, Fairport won in overtime but  tonight, Fairport won again (their third straight) with an 8-3 win over the Panthers.

# 3134  Quarter Finals: From Thirty-One to Sixteen

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: The quarter finals were played today, and there were fourteen winners and fourteen teams that ended their seasons. Following the season trend, almost all were mismatches with only the Irondequoit at Thomas game close, for most of the game. As expected, all the higher seeded teams won today and the top four seeded teams are now set for the semifinals.

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Mynderse scored first and shutout Midlakes-Red Jacket for the first half, on their way to a 5-3 win on the road. It was the first win for the Blue Devils this season and avenged their earlier 6-2 loss when they played the Eagles on May first. Junior midfielder Mitchell Dekanski led the scoring with 3g and freshman midfielder Dylan Tandle added 1g-1a. Senior goalkeeper Gino Poretta had 15s/3gs (83%) for the winners who will play Waterloo on Thursday. There was no report from Midlakes-Red Jacket at post time. [BOX SCORE]

# 3055  McQuaid With Three Strong Returners

Quite a number of coaches feel that McQuaid Jesuit will be a top contender among Class A teams this year which makes sense with three players who made first-team All-League honors as sophomores returning for their senior year. In the attack is Max Ettinghausen is a four-year starter who scored 28g-24a in 2019 and 23g-13a as a freshman. He is a "fast, smart and tough player with excellent stick skills and is a strong leader" according to Coach Corcoran. He will continue playing lacrosse next year at Tufts.

# 2890  Irondequoit Comes Back in Final Minute

After trailing for nearly the entire game, Irondequoit came back to take their first lead early in the fourth quarter.  The Eagles won in the first overtime period 9-8 over McQuaid Jesuit.  The Knights took the early lead with 4 of the first 5 goals; they led by three goals twice in the first half before Irondequoit came back to tie the game (6-6) at the half.
